TED

TEDxYouth@SteelPlaza seeks to emphasize the directions and intersections of ideas and disciplines, exploring the power of cross-subject connections through thoughtful deliberation and discussion, culminating in our February 2017 event. Our speakers will come from many disciplines, ages, ethnicities, and genders, but they will all share a passion for their idea and a need to spread it. A main focus of our event lies in bringing together students that attend the public schools in and around Downtown Pittsburgh with one another, and these students with the city around them. In connecting scientists with artists, teenagers with professors, innovators with scholars, we hope to bridge the gap between segmented worlds.

TEDxYouth are independently organized TED events, organized by and for the youth community. TEDx events are created in order to give a local voice to community leaders and innovators, and in doing so, aim to create a culture that fosters and grows novel ideas.

TED is a nonprofit organization dedicated to "Ideas worth spreading." From conferences to TED-Ed lessons to localized TEDx talks, they strive to create a global community where great ideas are accessible to everyone.
